| I don't even know who Emilia is but both are current era memes, both are modern. An anime from 2017 is still very recent and most anime memes since 2015 are contemporary. Also, re zero sucks like 99% of all other isekai that suck just as hard if not more like the sword art online and the mushoku tensei. |

| Maybe I'm reading a bit too much into your question, but the situations are different. In case of Rem, Subaru did ask her to run away far off with him after he failed to prevent the attack on the mansion multiple times and was giving up, but Rem indirectly refused and said if she did that, the Subaru she knew and loved would be lost, which brought Subaru back to his senses (or gave him a new resolve), it was then when he rejected her, but she was fully prepared to be rejected because she literally wanted the "original Subaru" and the original Subaru loves Emilia, not her. Then again, Subaru does see her as "#2" in his heart as he implied later which is why he offered to run away with her in the first place. In case of Hina, however, she was just being selfish, it's fine that she confessed to him, but she still couldn't accept the fact that Chinatsu is the one Taiki loved (which Rem did in case of Emilia), and thus was desperate. It's true that new feelings can be born, but when Taiki confirmed it to both himself and Hina that there is only one person he loved, Hina still wanted to stall by saying "no need to give your answer yet". While I feel bad for Hina, it doesn't change the fact she was still being selfish and manipulative. You also have to consider that anime romances can't be directly compared to real life. Taiki most probably would've liked Hina back after her confession if it were real life, instead of aiming for someone whose feelings he isn't even aware of. |

| People were already familiar with this scene during the manga only existence and I don't think Chinatsu vs Hana was as powerful and memeable as Rem vs Emilia. If you're looking for modern anime with extremely memetic scenes and twists, then you need to watch 100 Kanoujo, Ave Mujika and Frieren. @SoumyaUkil73 If you keep following ReZero, things aren't that simple there, lmao. |

I haven't read the light novel yet, plan to read after finishing S3, I do have a little idea it isn't that simple though, I just wrote from my knowledge of the anime.

| it's always the same pattern in shouje were the losing girl always have the best scenes a best development to always lose to the main heroine. I dropped ao no haku pretty early because of that. not gonna invest on hina knowing that she will 10000000% sure she is going to lose. and nope it's not the same, rezero became a meme, the ao no hako happens everytime in shoujos. |

| I never understood why people are so animated about their girl or guy losing to the other love interest. If the show has only one among the LIs that have chemistry with the mc, it's already a bad show as far as love triangles go. If more than one has chemistry, then who cares who ended up "winning", feels like it should be nothing to lose sleep over. |

| There's definitely similarities between the two. Both shows have awful MC's that are hard to relate to for adults so I can't get too invested in their bad decision-making. |
