There are some anime that everyone loves and you also acknowledge that it's great but you just can't get into them for some reason or another.

For me, it's Re:Zero. I know that it's really good and a very well made anime. It's execution and pacing were great as well. But I, for some reason, just couldn't get into it. While the anime was great in every other aspect, I couldn't enjoy it at all. Somehow I sluggishly made it through season 1 but can't be bothered to watch season 2 at all.

Edit: Stop saying "iF I cAn'T gEt InTo/lIkE ThE aNiMu ThEn It'S nOt GoOD", that's not even the point of this thread, Stop being annoying brats and talk like adults. Please.

Konosuba. I'm only about halfway through the first season, so my opinion may change, but I seriously don't get the hype. It's one of the most boring anime I've ever seen.

Also No Game No Life. I've tried on three separate occasions to watch it, and each time I can't get past about the second episode.

Nichijou, mostly because it is a comedy and humor is subjective and I don’t find it that funny, so it ends up being kinda boring since the show isn’t trying to do anything besides invoking laughter.

Yes, IRK? for me it was not funny as well. The artstyle was really good, and everything else was also pretty well. But the core subject of the show, The "Humour" wasn't funny to me at all. Couldn't get past through episode 2

I found both of those shows enjoyable. But I get what you are saying. Konosuba was fun for me because of the character interactions and it had some funny moments in it. No game No Life had the cool "artstyle" going for it, and its plot was mildly interesting to me.

The Monogatari Series. I only managed to make it through all three parts of Kizumonogatari. I had to drop the rest after a few episodes because I just couldn't get into it.

Also, One Piece. After forcing my way through over 700 episodes, I finally dropped it at the end of the Dressrossa arc, and it felt like load off my shoulders.

Personally, I don't think either of them are good, just very popular.

3-gatsu no Lion! I liked the main character, but something bored me ; idk if it was the pacing or the shogi scenes, but I was almost falling asleep at some point so I decided to watch it sometime later ( - ▽ - )

Sorry for going a bit off-topic here :

Just to say that if you try to watch one or two more episodes you might start to be interested in a show! But don't force yourself neither of course ^^

Edit : funny that many animes you all mentioned are my favorite ones lol

404, anime not found. If there's no way I can get into something and dislike it for whatever reasons, it's bad according to what I value in fiction. On the contrary, if I think it's good, I will be into it. That's not to say that I can't appreciate things that are done well in something I dislike or that I'll never give anything a 2nd chance, but, for me, these are two contradicting, entirely subjective value judgements.

TL;DR:
anime bad <=> can't get into it
anime good <=> will get into it
Other combinations are contradictory.

One Piece and LOGH are really hard for me to watch entirely. LOGH, though, has some bland characters while One Piece has 40000+ hours worth of episodes. I don’t have time for that.

Understandable because a lot of people thought the same way, but it really does get better after 12 episodes. the plot twists are pretty unpredictable

As much as i love the Monogatari series i have to agree, it's not an anime that everyone would enjoy but when you take the time to pay attention to the dialogues and character progression it gets really good.

The movies are action packed, almost like a shounen, but the series are kinda slow, yeah.

The thing is, there are times when you can acknowledge that something is "good"! But you just cannot get into to it. And I had a lot of these experiences. Another example for me would be the movie "The Shining", Now I have seen that movie. I know, it's beloved and I also acknowledge that it's great because of how the movie was helmed, How the story was structured, the pacing, the shots, the lighting... everything was great in that movie. But again, I didn't enjoy it, now that doesn't mean that I should just disregard all of the facts that the movie itself was good and start hating on it?
That's how my stance is on Re:Zero as well, I like how the anime is executed and I also know that it's a very well-paced, and well-directed anime, there's a lot of passion behind it. But sometimes, you just don't enjoy something even if it's good.

Also yeah, a lot of people are missing the point of this thread :P People are talking about those anime that they don't like at all instead of those which they know are good but just didn't enjoy. Oh well... What can you do now XD

I have immense respect for Imagawa's adaptation of Giant Robo, however, I remember not being able to connect with the characters at all. Watching Getter Robo: Armageddon made me appreciate his cinematic flair and over the top sense of storytelling a lot more though. I'd probably like Giant Robo a lot more if I revisited it.

I have faced something similar to this problem twice today. Well, it is not because I cannot get into it. It's because I am into it and I am scared to finish it.

One is not anime related. It is the film The Spectacular Now. The meeting and continued interactions of the two main characters are so awkward it is beautiful. They feel like they were either written by someone who has actually seen how two highschoolers act and talk or by someone who was so recently one. It is too real. And I am so scared of continuing because I do not want to see what the plot would do to them.

So I closed that movie and scrolled through my movies folder and look what I found: Sound! Euphonium: A Brand New Day. Another film I cannot watch. I would probably love it too. But if I watch it, what then? There is no more Sound! Euphonium after this. I watch this and it is over. All I would have left is to rewatch the series for the nth time.

I said fuck it and watched John Wick 3 instead.

Yes, I know that feeling... this was the case with me, when I wanted to watch Back to the future movies, I watched the first 2 and then put off the third one because "There's no more Back to the Future after this". But I finally watched it and finished it. I rarely ever rewatch stuff and I just don't like to finish something that I absolutely love and never get back to it again T-T

But fuck yeah, John wick is awesome XD I still prefer the first one over the other 2 but I love all the three movies.

If an anime is good, it should be able to "invite" you to watch it assuming you give it a chance. If you did give it a chance and it didn't work, either its simply not your taste or it isn't good, period. I can't really consider animes that failed to peek my interest good, as one of the main things a story is supposed to be doing, is obviously make the viewers interested in seeing how it progresses.
